Tina at Great Auk Medical Supply personally went through this journey breaking her ankle in early March. She found the "crutches difficult and scary'" were her words. She relied on the Knee Scooter to get around her house.
Taking a shower is challenging in the beginning and you need a shower chair. There are different types of shower chairs available. It's best to measure the width to make sure the chair will fit in the space as some of the chairs flair out at the bottom. Great Auk Medical Supply has one that is straight up & down that can suction to the tub.
Also if you need cast coverage, we have those too.
She also used a walker to help assist her from sitting to standing and vice-versa. A Toilet Guard Rail is also very helpful if assistance is needed.
The doctors office gave her a walking boot. We have those in stock if the doctors office does not.
Tina has returned back to work and doing better, but still has to elevate her leg at home with pillows or even better- lift chair -- she has learned a lot from this experience and we have added the elevated leg rest to our inventory for someone else who may be going through this. As she has said she will need to elevate her leg for at least a year if not longer while healing.
